AFCILEX is a range of special range of Exothermic Sleeves available in both Open as well as in Blind shape used for efficient feeding of Ferrous & Non-Ferrous Castings. Size range of AFCILEX available is from 1'Dia to 12' Dia to suit the individual requirements.
 
AFCILEX sleeves are designed to provide effective feeding of metal by prolonged solidification period of risers provided to the castings. AFCILEX sleeves being exothermic initiate an exothermic reaction in risers by liberation of heat and also acts as a long-term insulating barrier.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION PROCEDURE :-
  • According to riser peg design, sleeves of proper dimension should be mounted on riser prior to moulding. For optimum riser performance hot feeding and anti-piping compound such as AFCIFEED 11/21/51 must be used. When the molten metal reaches to riser height in the mould, the exothermic reaction starts on contact with the sleeves. The exothermic reaction results in increment of heat to some extent and also acts as an insulating barrier for a long time thus increases the feeding performance of the riser. The efficient metal feeding consequently results in higher yields leading to high metal saving.
 
FUNCTIONS & ADVANTAGES

  • Increase in feeding efficiency and yield, through minimum heat loss and heat dissipation.
  • Reduction in riser sizes improves the foundry yield through metal saving, higher product output per mould due to higher saving in riser metal, savings in high value metallic inputs, drastic reduction in fettling costs.
  • Resistance to impact, sleeves can be cut to size as required to suit individual feeding volume.
  • When used with AFCIFEED a range of Hot Feeding/ Anti-piping compounds can lead to further improvement in yield.
 
PRECAUTIONS :
  • AFCILEX sleeves should be kept in tightly closed bag in a cool and dry place to prevent it from moisture contact and avoid external contamination.
  • AFCILEX sleeves are highly exothermic sleeves hence should be kept away from flame or from other ignition source.
  • Coating and torching of Sleeves should be avoided inside the mould.
  • Damage and displacement of sleeves should be prevent while making moulds.
